I was speaking to a yoga teacher the other day – we were drawing similarities to the practice of yoga and music training, and how it affects our mind in the long term. Each must be learnt slowly but steadily, in slow increments, however, the satisfaction, the benefits, and the training you give your mind will last you a lifetime.

When pursuing an interest, there rarely is such a thing as an overnight success. Whether it is learning to play the flute,  yoga, or learning to play soccer, Practice, the “repeated exercise in or performance of an activity or skill so as to acquire or maintain proficiency in it”, does make Perfect.

What I love about our Kindermusik class is the way our music “practice” becomes effortless – in a social happy setting, a child’s mind is challenged, their imagination involved, their small successes shared.

And the benefits from music will be felt for a long long time – long after we’ve parted company.
